My Secret to Naturally Healthy Skin

The Journey to Confidence in My Skin

There’s a unique confidence that comes with having healthy, glowing skin, and I truly believe that when your skin feels great, you feel great too. Unfortunately, I spent years not feeling confident in my own skin. For various reasons, my self-esteem was deeply affected by skin issues, and I often wished I had discovered the products I use now long ago. It would have saved me from countless tears and a lot of unnecessary stress.

In my early twenties, I struggled with scarring on my back from an incident when I was seventeen. To cover it up, I kept my hair long, especially in the summer, so I could hide the visible scars. As I entered my late twenties, I started developing additional skin issues, a side effect of treatments for a kidney condition. These treatments caused rashes, dry skin, and worsened my keratosis pilaris (KP), especially on my arms and above my knees. Despite trying different diets and spending countless hours and money on products recommended by doctors and research, nothing seemed to work. Eventually, I decided to stop trying to expose my arms and legs, avoiding situations where I might feel self-conscious.

For years, I lived in a way that kept my insecurities hidden. I avoided certain activities and felt uncomfortable in situations that exposed my skin. While I believe that true beauty is more than skin deep, and I deeply love the person I am, I longed for the day when I could feel comfortable and confident in my skin.

The turning point came a little over a year ago when I made the decision to go chemical-free with my skincare routine. This shift has brought incredible positive change into my life. After spending hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars over the years testing different products, I’m finally seeing results. My KP has cleared up, and I feel much more confident wearing short sleeves and showing off my arms. Additionally, I’ve found a solution to my dry skin and rashes, and I’m thrilled with how clean products have helped my skin stay youthful and radiant.

You can find all the skincare products I use by visiting the “Shop” section of my website.

My KP Solution

One thing I’ve learned is that consistency is key. If I skip a few days, I can expect a breakout. However, when I get back into my routine, I see improvements within just 3-4 days.

Morning Routine

  • Soap: I start with my favorite bar soap in the shower, which I find leaves my skin more moisturized than body wash. While I also have a body wash I love, I usually keep it on hand for guests, as many people prefer not to use bar soap.

  • Body Oil: After drying off, I apply my turmeric body oil to my arms and legs.

  • Moisturizer/Body Oil: Before getting dressed, I use either a moisturizer or body oil, depending on how dry my skin feels. If I need extra hydration, I reach for oil. The one I recommend absorbs well and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.

Evening Routine

  • Moisturizer: If my KP is inflamed, I apply two products: a lotion and a moisture stick. On days when my skin is calm, I stick with just the moisture stick. I prefer to use these at night because they leave a slightly greasy feel.

Face & Lip Skincare

While researching clean products, I discovered that proper hydration is key to healthy, youthful skin. Not all moisturizers are created equal, and making sure your skin is well-hydrated is essential.

Morning Routine

  • Face Wash: I use a gentle face wash that cleanses without stripping my skin’s natural oils.

  • Face and Eye Moisturizer: Every morning, I apply an eye cream and a light layer of face moisturizer as a primer.

  • Lips: I exfoliate my lips with my exfoliation stick as needed. Then, I moisturize with my favorite lip balm throughout the day and before bed.

Evening Routine

  • Face Wash: I use the same cleanser I use in the morning to remove makeup and impurities from the day.

  • Face Moisturizer: Depending on my skin’s needs, I switch between different products. I usually apply a plumping serum at night, but if I’m experiencing breakouts, I use an antioxidant cream. For dry skin, I reach for a rich beef tallow and honey cream.

Tanning

In my shop, you can find my favorite clean tanning products. I’ve also included a detailed guide on how I use each one to achieve a natural, sun-kissed glow.
